Against a deep black ground, serpentine forms and sharp triangles create a vocabulary of urban danger. But rendered in playful stripes that undercut genuine threat. Julia constructs this talisman from fear itself, domesticating shadows through colour and pattern. The painting operates like a spell: by naming the darkness and making it decorative, it loses some of its power.
