Empowering Emerging Spanish Artists through Digital Innovation
Creating a thriving digital platform that supports emerging Spanish visual artists has been a passion project. This case study aims to delve into the journey of bringing this project to life from its inception to the creation of prototypes.
Introduction
My platform prototype, A.Dot, is dedicated to fostering the careers of emerging Spanish visual artists, with a particular focus on painters. By connecting artists with patrons and collectors, the platform aims to create a supportive community that not only appreciates but also invests in visual art. The primary users are emerging Spanish visual artists, art patrons and collectors, art enthusiasts, hobbyists, and educational institutions.
Ideation and Conceptualization
The idea for this platform stemmed from the recognition of the struggles faced by emerging artists in gaining visibility and financial support. The naming and branding process was crucial in ensuring the platform resonated with its target audience. I focused on vibrant, friendly, and non-stereotypical elements to create an inviting and engaging brand.
Market Discovery and Research
In the market discovery phase, I conducted thorough research to understand the landscape of digital platforms for artists. I analyzed competitors and established benchmarks to identify gaps and opportunities. User personas were developed based on interviews and surveys, providing valuable insights into the needs and preferences of the target audience.
Objectives and Scope of the MVP
The MVP was designed to meet specific objectives, focusing on the most crucial functionalities to support artists and connect them with patrons. The scope included features such as artist profiles, artwork showcasing, and patron-artist interaction mechanisms.
Prototyping and Testing
I created three prototypes to cover different user flows: artist registration, supporting an artist, and viewing artwork details. Each prototype was meticulously designed and tested to ensure a seamless user experience. Feedback from testing sessions was invaluable in refining the prototypes.

User Experience and Design
The navigation and information structure were designed to be intuitive and user-friendly. I mapped out key user journeys and created wireframes to visualize the flow of the platform. High-fidelity screens were then developed, incorporating feedback from the testing phase.
Feedback and Insights
Initial feedback from users was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the platform prototype's potential to make a significant impact in the art community. Key insights from testers provided a solid foundation for future development and enhancements. Here are some brave and impactful feedback quotes and insights:
“I love how intuitive and visually appealing the interface is. It makes the process of discovering and supporting artists so enjoyable.”
“This platform bridges the gap between artists and patrons in a way that feels organic and supportive. It's exactly what the art world needs right now.”
Key Insights and Potential Improvements
Streamlined Onboarding. Users appreciated the simplicity of the registration process but suggested adding a guided tutorial for new users to maximize engagement from the start.

Enhanced Interaction Features. Testers recommended integrating more interactive features, such as live chat or video calls, to facilitate deeper connections between artists and patrons.

Expanded Artwork Categories. While the initial focus is on painters, expanding to other visual arts such as sculpture and digital art would attract a broader audience and increase platform diversity.
